Tensho roared as he lashed out again, fangs bared and eyes flashing.
The "human devil" squealed in terror, dropping his foam q-tip staff and scurrying for the edge of the foam ring, his cumbersome costume causing him to slip. The samurai Canis deftly leaped after him, following through with his missed strike with a wicked overhead that landed with a sound crack on the costumed Red's back, flatting him against the fighting pad. The small crowd roared, children clapping with glee while their parents clutched their sides laughing.
The unfortunate Red lifted a single, quivering paw, reaching out to his wide-eyed booth-mate who was rooted to the spot in terror. Tensho raised his own foam q-tip again and held it, poised to strike again should his opponent dare to rise. The costumed human devil groaned, tail twitching weakly as he rolled onto his back. He quickly covered his beady eyes with a squeak, both paws clamped tight over his face. The other Red working the booth with him quickly blew on his ring-master's whistle, waving wildly to save his friend as Tensho reared to strike again. The Canis lowered the q-tip, the little Red straining with his whole body to lift Tensho's paw in victory as his friend the human devil weakly crawled off the fighting mat, much to the adoration of the crowd. Finally, the ring-master lifted Tensho's claw, holding it up on tip-toes as high as he could (About the Canis's waistline).
"*hnngg* and the winner, *gah*, is the samurai!" The crowd whooped and clapped, but Tensho was looking past them. His eyes narrowed. There it was.
He lifted the q-tip staff, the motion cool and measured as if he was aiming a weapon. "That one."
The ring-master dropped Tensho's claw, nearly collapsing from relief as he toddled after the Canis who effortlessly stepped out of the ring, tossing his q-tip aside as he marched to his target. The ring-master quickly passed him on all fours, scurrying up to the rack of stuffed animal prizes.
"Ah, which one was it you wanted?"
"The one of your Queen."
"Right, right, here you are then." The Red quickly pulled the large stuffed animal depicting the queen of the Reds down, handing over to the Canis, who unceremoniously clutched it by the throat as he turned away without another word. He marched through the crowd, clearly heading to a particular bench. On it sat a small Red child, who clapped with glee, eyes wide at the spectacle of the earlier q-tip duel at the "Beat a Human" booth, as well as the prospect of receiving the stuffed animal.
Tensho halted in front of the child, kneeling to his level so they could see eye-to-eye. The child giggled as the serious-faced samurai handed over the stuffed animal which the child immediately hugged in adoration. Tensho cleared his throat to get his attention, completely oblivious to how silly his mission was.
"Now, little one: Which booth was it you said offers the best stir-fry in the whole festival?"
