The Deadwoods forest on Route 3, despite its ominous name, was considered one of the most peaceful locations on the entire Eclipsio region. Most of the Pokemon living there were perfectly content to let travelers pass by peacefully, meaning that it was a place many artists and other wanders visited in order to collect their thoughts. But now, the forest itself had descended into chaos. The entire forest had been surrounded by Pokemon Rangers, with no visitors being allowed in or out. Many of the Pokemon inside the forest had been behaving erratically, attacking strangers at random, and seem to be covered in some sort of orange goo. The most distressing news of all, however, was that the local gym leader Pentagon had gone missing. He had gone into the forest alone in order to investigate a meteor that had crash landed inside the forest, but he had not been seen since.
It was very rare for a gym leader, an expert on local Pokemon, to go missing.
As a member of the Elite Four, Reggie was regarded as one of the foremost experts on Pokemon. When a crisis such as this occurs, he was one of the people who were called in. Unfortunately for the Rangers, he had yet to develop the professional demeanor of his colleagues.
"So...what exactly is the reason you guys called us in again?" Reggie asked. He was standing in a hastily erected Ranger outposts on the side of the forest. Inside as a group of Rangers as well as one of their scientists. They were all standing around a glass tube at the center of the room containing two Pokemon that had been extracted from the forest. The Pokemon themselves, Abra and Pinsir, were not usually worthy of note. However, now that they were covered in in some strange substance, they were behaving much more aggressively. Ever since they had been captured, the pair of Pokemon had continuously attacked the tube holding them inside, and they did not appear to be getting tired anytime soon.
The First Specimens
Professor Redwood looked out at the yard in front of his office. There was not a single person in the crowd that did not have a new Pokemon by their side. All his life, Professor Redwood had worked hard to help improve the relationships between Pokemon and their trainers. Ever since the recent events in the Hoenn region, where god-like legendary had nearly flooded the entire planet, he found that many people had begun to fear Pokemon. Many were deciding to pursue more "traditional" lifestyles as opposed to becoming a Pokemon trainer. But, when he looked out at all the new pairings in front of him, it was easy to forget all about that and feel hope for the next generation.
"Professor Redwood?" One of his assistants rushed over, a phone in her hand.
"What is it Linda?" Redwood asked.
"It's a call for you. It sounds urgent." She pushed the phone out towards him. "It's the Pokemon Champion."
It had been a while since Redwood had heard from Lionhart. Not long enough in his opinion. With a long sigh, Redwood pushed the phone away. "Sorry Linda, please tell him that I will call him back. These trainers out there are about to begin their first adventure, and I want to be there to send them off."
"But-"
"Even the Pokemon Champion has to be patient sometimes. I will get back to him shortly."

The First Specimens
"These Pokemon were captured inside the Deadwood forest. It took five rangers to capture them. They are more powerful than they look." The scientist explained. He was scanning the two Pokemon inside the tube with his Pokedex, and while it could recognize what they were, it was unable to account for whatever extra strength the goo had granted them. It was like they had been using an X Attack that never wore off.
"Yeah, but, its an Abra and a Pinsir. My Gyarados could take down these Pokemon easily regardless of what they cover themselves in. Don't take this the wrong way, but for these two to give your Rangers so much trouble..." Reggie placed his hand against the glass tube. The Pinsir slammed into the glass headfirst, but Reggie was not phased. "That does not reflect well on your abilities."
"Well, that was why we called in you Reginald-"
"Call me Reggie."
"Reggie...we need to find a way to solve this problem. This, infectious substance, whatever it is, is spreading quickly. And right now it may only be affecting smaller Pokemon like Abra and Pinsir, but what if it were to affect something more powerful...like your Gyarados for instance? Then, we would have a very big problem on our hands." The scientist explained. Reggie fell silent, staring at the creatures inside the tube.
"What exactly are we dealing with here doc?" Reggie asked as he stared at the creatures. He had encountered some very dangerous wild Pokemon in his time. Heck, when his Gyarados evolved for the first time, he had nearly tried to eat him. But these encounters were typically born out of anger or fear: when he looked into the Pinsir's eyes, all he saw was hatred.
"This substance coating their skin is unlike anything we have ever seen before. It is alien to our planet."
"So, you're saying we might be dealing with an alien?" Reggie raised an eyebrow.
"I won't rule it out, even if it sounds far-fetched." The scientist said. "But we need more information."
"If you want I can break out my team. Go into that forest and knock out more Pokemon for you to study."
"Too risky." The redheaded commander of the Pokemon Rangers, Sammy, suddenly stepped into the outpost. Reggie had to admit that she was both frightening and adorable when she was dishing out orders. "Right now, all we are dealing with are weak Pokemon who rarely fight others. They may be attacking us, but they barely know what they are doing in a fight. The last thing we need is for an Elite Four member's team to be infected."
"What we really need is a way to capture these creatures safely. Our normal Pokeballs just bounce off them harmlessly. The only way we were able to capture these little guys was by going old-fashioned and using nets and rope." Sammy crossed her arms. "We need better Pokeballs."
"There is a Pokeball factory in Twilight City. I bet one of them could give us what we need." The scientist turned to Reggie. "If a member of the Elite Four were to request their assistance, I doubt that they would refuse."
"Then that's where I'm going." Reggie sighed. "So, you guys don't want me to fight anything?"
"Er, not at the moment no." The scientist muttered.
"Great. I certainly feel like I'm getting stronger Lionhart, running your damn errands." The scientist handed Reggie a vial of the orange substance coating the captured Pokemon, which he immediately placed in his pocket. "Until then, keep up the perimeter I guess. Do our best to contain this thing. Sure hope no flying Pokemon get infected."
And with that, Reggie walked out the door. The Rangers all breathed a sigh of relief. "Is he really the strongest of the Elite Four?" The scientist asked.
"Some men know how to battle and nothing else." Sammy said, shaking her head.

New Dawn
"Everyone, if I could just have a moment." Redwood asked. His voice was very loud and commanding, which caught many of the new trainers off guard. "First off, I want to thank all of you for coming her today. As you know, these Pokemon that you have adopted have come from many places. Some were abandoned by their trainers. Others were found hurt and scared in the wild, unable to fend for themselves. Regardless of where they came from, one thing remains clear: these Pokemon need trainers. They need you."
"So, please remember that wherever you may go. Should you go on to become a Professor, a Gym Leader, or even a Pokemon Champion...remember that moment when you laid your eyes on your new companion for the first time." Redwood then gestured to one of his lab assistants, who walked over with a box full of strange red devices. "And, finally, I have a confession to make. I have not been completely selfless in my plan to bring you and your first Pokemon together. I want you to help me continue my work."
"These are called Pokedexes. They are able to scan Pokemon and tell you whatever it is you want to know about them. Things such as their moves, their abilities, and their habitats...everything is recorded inside the Pokedex. As you begin your journey across the Eclipsio region, it is my hope that you will help my team learn more about this region of ours and all the Pokemon that live here."
"Once again, thank you very much for coming."
With that, Professor Redwood stepped back into the lab, and silence fell over the crowd. Now, their journey was truly beginning. While most of those gathered here would return to their homes, others were much more eager to start their journey across the Eclipsio region as soon as possible. Ecipsio itself was a region composed of three very large islands: the one they were currently standing on, Solar Isle, was shaped very similarly to a sun. On this region were three gym leaders, meaning that anyone wishing to someday challenge the Pokemon Champion would have to explore the entire island as part of their journey. However, only the most foolhardy of trainers ever dreamed of actually beating the champion. They said that Lionhart was unbeatable. No one had ever even seen his sixth and final Pokemon.
New Dawn itself was a quiet and peaceful town, the kind of place those looking to settled down called home, while those who were more adventurous longed to get away. The town was comfortable nestled between two large mountain rangers, meaning that for the start of their journey there was only one path to follow: Route 1.

Hello, and welcome to the world of Pokemon Light. Our journey begins in New Dawn (essentially the "Pallet Town" of the Eclipsio region) where our heroes have just acquired their first Pokemon. With only one real path out of the city (Route 1) everyone will begin on the same path to their first stop, Sunrise City! From there, I players will be more free to either stick together or pursue their own goals. Before we begin, I wanted to lay out a few ground rules for all the players.
1. You are free to capture and battle Pokemon as you see fit. While I will create certain battle scenarios for you (particularly those involving Deoxys or Team Hunter), these are by no means the only battles that will occur. A good portion of this rp will be up to the players themselves to determine what it is they want to do and when. As such, think of this rp as more "free-roam" than most of my other projects.
2. With that freedom comes a little bit more responsibility on the part of players. For instance, let's say that a player decides to leave the main party and go explore a cave on their own. Now, none of my posts may have mentioned this "cave," but if it makes sense for one to be there then by all means go ahead. However, don't expect me to instantly have an idea for how to make the cave interesting. It may fall on you to decide what Pokemon / trainers you encounter and battle there!
3. PvP is allowed. It's Pokemon after all. For the most part, battles should come down to logic. Who made the better tactical decisions in the battle? Who had the better / more interesting strategies? Since we are all adults, I am hoping that players can decide among themselves who logically wins a battle without needing me to step in (but I will if it is necessary) or relying on a dice roll.
4. Gym battles will be more in-line with Pokemon Sun and Moon, by which I mean that all gym battles will be a unique challenge.
5. Players can add npcs! Since there is a small number of us, people should be able to add npcs to interact with to help aid their character development. Want a sibling who is also a gym leader? Perhaps a gang of thugs to form the next evil team to conquer Eclipsio? The only big guideline I will give you is that no npc should overshadow your main character. If you find that your posts are more about the npcs than your protagonist, you should plan on dialing back. Oh, and Team Hunter is the established team in Eclipsio. If you plan on overtaking them, be ready for an uphill battle. Also, if you want an npc to serve in a certain capacity (gym leader / elite four member / Team Hunter member) contact me first.
6. You can have up to six Pokemon. So don't think that you can just cycle through a PC box like on the anime. That would be confusing. Also, keep your trainer card in your signature.
7. Some of the tropes of the Pokemon games are going to be thrown out for this rp. First, you should come up with more interesting scenarios for how you catch Pokemon than "I was walking in the grass and tripped over a Pidgey." This is fine for the games, but not very interesting for an rp. Come up with unique stories for how you found your Pokemon! For instance, in Pokemon Blue (an old rp I was in), I had an Oddish I rescued from a forest fire, a Growlithe I adopted from an old couple, and a Scizor I stole from Team Rocket. Second, injuries to Pokemon matter. Pokemon Centers can help you, but not everything is as easy as "put the Pokemon in the machine and they come out all better." Finally, actually train your Pokemon. I had my character in Pokemon Blue having his Pokemon practice in various ways as they grew stronger and acquired new moves. What I mean is, act less like you are in a videogame, and more like you are living in Eclipsio.
8. Have fun. It's Pokemon!
