Well, Hawk, you told me to sign up, and here's my effort at signing up. I will go out on a limb here and guess that this is neither my most coherent nor my most sensible sign up, and in that sense, I'm happy to change things as needed. But for now, I'll blame it on ear-infection-induced sleep deprivation. Or I think this is an ear infection.
But I have, I think, the basics of the character figured out, the Pokemon I'd like to use, and the Trainer Card thing built (which took longer than everything else by a longshot). So...maybe I'm doing okay?

{Spoiler}
Name: Jack
Gender: Boy
Age: 16
Class: Ace Trainer (though the “ace” bit is probably still debatable)
Jack likes studying Pokemon as much as training them, which means a few things. One, he’s not always the best trainer, because it’s hard to make up for inexperience sometimes.
Appearance:
Personality: Some people are quiet. Jack, on the other hand, comes across more as aloof or standoffish—he likes to study how to train and raise Pokemon, and has very few distractions from that. It’s like being a workaholic, minus netting an actual income at that point. His hope is that that’ll come with time.
This is in part because while he has plenty of ideas, he has no practice in actual training. And he’s not one to deviate from that course.
Bio: A native of the Sevii Islands, Jack grew up surrounded by a mixture of Pokemon rangers, rich resort-goers, adventure seekers, and the occasional conspiracy theorist. His parents are a combination of those things, traveling around the islands engaging in conservation efforts, raising Pokemon, and picking at the various secrets in the area. So it’s not that such a life isn’t fun. The Sevii Islands are far-flung, strange places with a lot to see. But the remote-ness of the islands means that sooner or later, there comes a temptation to escape.
Jack took a few extra years to save up money to travel away from the Islands and see the rest of the world. The world, of course, ended up meaning Eclipsio—a place he’d never heard of, and a place that, as fate would have it, cost extra to get to thanks to layovers (or perhaps some slightly unscrupulous. Nevertheless, he made in one piece.
Of course he’ll head back someday. Among other things, there’s the Sevault Canyon, and the Lost Cave—places that are supposedly unlike anywhere else in the world, and places that he’s already missing if he’s honest.
Goal: Eventually, to make it back to the Sevii Islands. But while he’s in Eclipsio, Jack will happily settle for what he considers normal trainer things—raising Pokemon, traveling with people that aren’t necessarily your immediate family, and hone his skills as a strategist. Because of his personality it’s mostly the battling aspect. And if that means taking on tougher and tougher trainers, well…
Starter Pokemon: Jack’s Totodile is a far cry from his trainer’s more reserved, studious behavior—he’s rambunctious, aggressive, and willing to take risks. In theory, Jack’s the sort of person who can turn that to his advantage. In reality…there have been some growing pains.
