The Pokemon Champion, leader of the Pokemon League and the protector of the Eclipsio region. Not only is the Pokemon Champion heralded as the region's foremost expert on Pokemon...they are also regarded as being the most powerful trainer in the region. More importantly, the person wearing the title of Pokemon Champion is the best. The son of one of the region's most prolific gym leaders, Reggie was born with the expectation of greatness, and he had exceeded them. His team of water type Pokemon had decimated the other members of the Pokemon League, and now only the champion remained. With a deep breath, Reggie stepped into the elevator, a confident smirk on his face.
The elevator doors closed behind him with an ominous thud as the elevator lifted higher into the sky. The Pokemon League of the Eclipsio region was a tower that lifted high into the sky, with each floor containing an arena for facing off with one of the Elite Four. The elevator had windows that allowed challengers to look out over the region, their view widening as they got closer to the top of the tower. From here, Reggie could see all three islands that made up the Eclipsio region. From here, every town that he had visited on his way here seemed so minuscule. The view offered to trainers was a symbol of what it meant to look down on the rest of the region as Champion.
And what a Champion he was. Undefeated for over thirty years, it had been nearly a decade since a challenger had managed to defeat the Elite Four and challenge him. Most trainers, even those who managed to defeat the region's eight gym leaders, had simply given up. It was said that the Champion himself was more machine than man, discarding all aspects of his body and personality that would not aid him in battle. Everyone always told him that not even he, the legendary water type trainer from Boardwalk, had a chance against the likes of him. And yet, here he was.
Lionhart
Name: Enter the name of your save file.
Gender: Are you a boy or a girl?
Age: Most new Pokemon trainers are young, but that is not necessarily the case.
Class: Typically the Pokemon trainers have a class, such as Youngster Joey, Ranger Kenny, or Black Belt Jack. Feel free to pick one of those and incorporate it into your character. If you are lacking inspiration, you will most likely be an Ace Trainer. Here is a full-list of established classes. This is also a good place to discuss what your battle style is.
Appearance: What does your character look like? Pictures are preferred. Should look like an anime character. Regular dudes would just feel...weird.
Personality: What does your character typically act like? Don’t worry about this section too much because it should change/mature over time. This will just give us an idea if we have too many, say, dark and brooding types.
Bio: Where your character has already been.
Goal: Ash wanted to catch them all. Misty wanted to become a stronger gym leader. And Brock wanted to breed. What is your character’s goal in life? For instance, you can pursue the Pokmeon League, hunt down a legendary, or lead an evil team of your own one day. Try not to overlap too much. Remember, just because your life goal is not to become Pokemon Champ does not mean that you can’t be competitive.
Starter Pokemon: Please provide a link on Bulbapedia so that people who have not played a Pokemon game since the original Gameboy colors games can keep up. Your Pokemon should be the first evolution of a set so that it can grow along with you. No legendaries, obviously. And get used to providing Bulbapedia links to moves and such so that other players know what you are doing. You may also want to describe your Pokemon a bit in terms of personality.
Trainer Card: In addition to posting it here, players will be asked to place their Trainer Card in their Sewer signature and regularly update it with Pokemon they catch. Also, don’t worry if there is not a sprite that reflects your character: just pick the closest choice. You can also look for other sprites on Google and edit them in there, if you so desire. Trainer cards can be made on Pokecharms.

Lionhart
"Lionhart. I challenge you!" Reggie shouted. The elevator doors opened, revealing a massive fighting arena on the roof of the Pokemon League. Only the stars provided the trainers with light. Before him, on the opposite end of the arena, was the Champion himself. He wore a massive suit of armor that had been enhanced by modern technology, complete with a jet on the back that allowed Lionhart to move his considerable bulk more easily. Lionhart was sitting on a throne and was calmly observing his challenger.
"Welcome Reggie. I heard that your victories against my Elite Four were most impressive." Lionhart slowly rose to his feet, his every movement somehow causing the entire tower to shake. Reggie was wondering whether or not Lionhart even needed Pokemon to face him in battle. "You have no idea how long I have waited for a worthy challenger."
"I'm no mere challenger Lionhart. You're looking at the Eclipsio region's next Pokemon Champion!" Reggie yelled. He grabbed his first Pokeball and summoned his first Pokemon, the mighty Poliwrath.
"I admire your confidence, but it is foolish to try and overpower me." Lionhart grabbed the hilt of a sword on his back. "I am the sun and the moon. The morning light and the quiet darkness. I am the unbreakable Eclipsio Pokemon Champion Lionhart! The end has come!" Lionhart drew his blade, revealing the Pokemon Aegislash. The sword and shield Pokemon flew out onto the battlefield, hovering only a few feet from his Poliwrath.
Neither the champion nor his challenger noticed a shooting star descending rapidly towards the region.
The Rocket Grunt woke up and immediately wish that he hadn't. Every part of his body hurt, and his head seemed to throb along with every beat of his heart. Slowly, the grunt rose to his feet, nearly falling over a small stool that had been placed in his room. The room itself had been left pitch dark, with the only discernible furniture being a bed and the stool that had nearly made his day that much worse. After a few minutes of slowly moving his way through the darkness, the grunt found what he assumed was a door. Unfortunately, it was locked from the outside. For the time being, he was stuck in here. Which brought up a good question...
Where was here?
The last thing the grunt remembered was making his way through the Lunia forest. Even though he was dressed in civilian clothes, the Rockets were well aware that Eclipsio was enemy territory. Despite being one of the largest organizations in the world, Eclipsio had somehow eluded their grasp. This region was ruled by another entity the likes of which Team Rocket had been hesitant to engage. He had seen Team Rocket willingly fight Team Magma, Team Aqua, heck even Team Plasma. But there was something about Team Hunter that made them hold back. Unlike Team Rocket which valued money, the only thing Team Hunter seemed interested in was power. They didn't steal, free, or capture Pokemon: the only thing they seemed concerned with was hunting them, regardless of how dangerous the game was. Still, there was money to be made on Eclipsio, and so his boss had sent him to see if Team Hunter had any weaknesses they could exploit. Despite his best efforts to be secretive, he must've been found while he was traveling.
The door suddenly opened, letting in a light that immediately blinded the grunt. The grunt tried to shield his eyes, but all he could see was the silhouette of a man in a cowboy hat: the signature of Team Hunter. "Alright Rick, its time that you met the boss."
"How do you know my name?" Rick asked. He'd been used to being called "grunt" for so long that he had almost forgotten what it sounded like.
"We know everything about you and the rest of your Team. Your in our territory now." The man grabbed him by the arm. "C'mon, your leaders sent you to find out if we were vulnerable right? What will they think if you get to tell them that you got to be face-to-face with Scarlet herself?"
Scarlet, the legendary Team Hunter boss. Not even Team Rocket knew what she looked like. Rick got a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. Most likely, if Scarlet valued secrecy, then there was no way that he was going to be allowed to leave their base alive. The Hunter behind him hurried him along, but not before Rick had the chance to look out a few of the windows. It was dark outside, but thanks to the moonlight he could tell that he was in some sort of dense forest. He even spotted a shooting star going across the night sky. Perhaps he was still in the Lunia forest? If so, that would definitely make it easier for his team to find. All he needed to do was contact his boss-
"I suggest bowing." The Hunter grunt opened the door, and before him, standing on a rug made from Arcanine fur, was Lady Scarlet herself.
“You did well Reginald. There is no shame in this loss.” Lionhart said. Standing before him was the massive form of his signature Pokemon, Metagross. On the ground before Reggie was his last Pokemon, the legendary red Gyarados, having just fallen in combat. Reggie thought that this time he had the answer to Lionhart’s strength, mega-evolving Gyarados into his most powerful form, but it wasn’t enough. It will never be enough.
“You have made it so far, but you are not ready to be Champion. Not while I still hold the mantle.” Lionhart placed his warhammer back into its holder. “A pity. I thought that you might just force me to use my final Pokemon.”
“No one has ever seen your final Pokemon, not even the former Champion.” Reggie muttered, rubbing Gyarados’s head. He had tried so hard during their battle. “Just what are you hiding Lionhart?"
“If you would like to find out, then you should join my Elite Four.” Lionhart stepped towards Reggie, extending his hand. “You have bested some of the most powerful trainers in the land in order to make it this far. You would be welcome on my team.”
“So that’s all I get as a reward, huh? I get to be one of your goons.” Reggie said.
“I think that you misunderstand the role of my Elite Four Reginald.” Lionhart explained. “The Pokemon League consists of the most powerful trainers in the Eclipsio region. We alone are trusted to deal with incidents most trainers, even so-called Aces, could never handle on their own. It will make you stronger Reginald.”
“And when you are ready, you can challenge me again.”
To the south of the Eclipsio region was a little town called New Dawn. It was the quiet sort of town that was perfect for those who found the hustle and bustle of nearby cities to be too overwhelming. Or, in the case of one Pokemon Professor, a quiet place to carry out his research in peace and quiet.
At least, that was the original plan. But right now the lab was practically overflowing with visitors, all here to receive their very first Pokemon. It was difficult to catch Pokemon if you did not already have one, and so aspiring trainers from far away had come to the lab of Professor Redwood in order to adopt one.
“Thank you so much for doing this Professor Redwood. My little girl just loves her new Oshawatt.” An excited mother said. Her daughter cradled a small otter-like creature in her arms.
“No need to thank me. Just make sure that he is given a good home.” Professor Redwood was a tall man with broad shoulders and a thick beard. Despite his age, it was obvious to anyone looking at him that Redwood was once a very tall and imposing man.
And that is where our journey begins, in the little town of New Dawn with young trainers being given their first Pokemon. Elsewhere in the world there are powerful Champions, villainous teams, and frightening legendary Pokemon; but that all feels so far away in this little town where people are being given their first companion. All that remains before they start their journey is a simple question…
“Are you a boy or a girl?” Professor Redwood asked.
Welcome to the world of Pokemon Light. I’m going to assume that most of you are familiar with the Pokemon videogames, or even Pokemon Go. In my opinion, the world of Pokemon is perfect for an rp setting, with hundreds of tiny creatures to find and battles to be fought. I’ve wanted to do a Pokemon rp for a very long time ever since I experienced Pokemon Blue back on SSLF. While that rp was a mess, it was also a lot of fun.
Pokemon Light will be a slower-paced rp compared to others. Don’t expect regular updates on my part, as it will mostly just be when I am free (and considering my college schedule, that will not be very often). I will also try my best to avoid doing the massive updates people may have come to associate with my other project, Rise. Pokemon is a fairly peaceful and relaxed world, and while there will certainly be some action, I want this rp to reflect that.
This rp will be fairly open. While I have ideas for most of the towns and major events we will encounter, I also want players to contribute to building the Eclipsio region up. As such, if you have any ideas for gym leaders, locations, etc. please let me know and we can incorporate it. There will be a lot of times where I drop you in a location, give you a vague description of the setting and some of the people there, and let you fill in the blanks.
In terms of combat, battles will be won not by stats (I hate numbers) but by other factors: writing quality, tactical choices, and creativity. Since this is Pokemon, there will be player versus player battles, and I am hoping that both players will be able to recognize when one side has won. If not, then I will intervene and determine the winner.
Eclipsio is a region made up of a set of islands in between all of the other regions that have already been established in the Pokemon games. As such, all of the pre-existing Pokemon games will be present, as well as a few special Pokemon infected by Deoxys (I was heavily inspired by the great Deoxys infected series on Deviantart). I won’t tell you when and where you will find Pokemon, that is up to the players (it is also up to you which ones you catch). That being said, it will be really boring to read about a trainer tripping over a powerful Pokemon in the tall grass repeatedly, so use your imagination as to how you find them.
Anyway, without further ado.

"I suggest bowing." The Hunter grunt opened the door, and before him, standing on a rug made from Arcanine fur, was Lady Scarlet herself.
Calling her beautiful was an understatement. Not even a word like "divine" could come close to doing her justice. The second Rick looked at her, she seemed to dominate his thoughts and his vision. Any time he tried to look elsewhere, he found himself being drawn back. She was perfect in practically every way. But, much like a Gardevoir, she was clearly both beautiful and dangerous. Any parts of her body that were exposed from her red dress were obviously covered in muscle, and her movements had a deliberate flow to them, much like a predator stalking her prey. The Hunter grunt behind him immediately bowed his head as Scarlet stepped forward, placing her hand on his chin. He nearly fainted right then and there.
"So, you are from the infamous Team Rocket?" Scarlet chuckled. "I must say that I am disappointed. Is this the best your region can produce?"
"I'm just a grunt ma'am. I'm just here to do some scouting." Rick gulped. "If my bosses hear that I was captured-"
"They will send a rescue party? Very well, let them. Perhaps they will be more challenging to capture in bulk." Scarlet smirked. "But I doubt they will. You and I both know that you are expendable. Right now, your only chance at survival is telling me exactly what it is that I want to know."
"Like I said, I'm just a grunt-"
"You know more than you let on." Scarlet explained. "I could have a group of psychic Pokemon rip what I want to know from your mind, but I'd prefer to have you tell me willingly. I'm accustomed to getting what I want."
Rick sighed. He didn't have much of a choice here. Either way, Scarlet was going to hear everything she wanted to know. As he gathered his thoughts, Rick finally pried his eyes away from Scarlet long enough to look around the room. In addition to the Arcanine fur he was standing on, the room was covered in similar "trophies." There were heads mounted on the wall of some of the most powerful Pokemon in the region, from Tyranitar to Salamence. There were even a few Pokemon that Rick recognized as extinct and some that he doubted would be found on any Pokedex. And his bosses really wanted to try and fight these people?

"If it makes you feel any better, I'm just part of a scouting operation. There is only me and a few others, and I doubt that the rest of Team Rocket is coming anytime soon." Rick said. "I think my bosses wanted to expand into Eclipsio region, but first they wanted to see if there were any chinks in the armor of Team Hunter. I think though that we can both agree that this isn't the case and it would be unwise to engage Team Hunter under any circumstances." Rick tried to smile, but all he could manage was a grimace. "If you let me go, I'm sure I can convince them that coming here will be a bad idea."
"Please grunt, if I wanted to send a message all I would need is your body." Scarlet said. Rick's body went numb. He had not expected that. "I'm more interested in what Team Rocket has to offer me. I've heard that they've even managed to develop some powerful Pokemon. I want you to tell me Rick, is there anything they have worth taking."
"I....well, not that I know of. But Team Rocket lost one of our most powerful creations a long time ago. I'm sure that whatever we got left is of little interest to you." Rick said. "I have to admit, based on how this room looks, I would have thought that you wouldn't be interested in Pokemon to begin with."
Scarlet laughed. It was almost as terrifying as her earlier threat. "You misunderstand me grunt. I adore Pokemon, at least the strong ones. These trophies of mine are all foes that were too weak to be worth capturing. But as every hunter knows, there is always bigger game." Scarlet looked up to her Salamence head and rubbed its neck. "Tell me grunt, are you familiar with the recent events of the Hoenn region?"
"Only loosely. I know about Team Aqua and Magma if that's what you're wondering."
"Those fools tried to awaken beings that are too powerful for this world. Creatures who could cause endless rain or droughts simply by waking up. Their mere presence caused the entire climate of the region to change." Scarlet explained. "Thankfully, those Pokemon were dealt with before they could do any more harm. But more powerful Pokemon are being discovered daily, and it is the goal of Team Hunter to ensure that humanity is ready to destroy them should the need arise. As such, we hunt Pokemon across the globe, if only to hone our skills. But what we need is a Pokemon powerful enough to act as a deterrent. A Pokemon strong enough even to strike fear into legendaries."
"Wow." Rick was taken aback. That was a far nobler goal than Team Rocket's, and as someone who got to witness the destruction caused by legendary Pokemon firsthand, he understood the value of Scarlet's goal. Perhaps he was on the wrong side all along. "If...if its possible, I'd like to join your team. I'm a capable trainer and scout. I think I can be of use."
"Nonsense grunt. You failed your previous Team by being captured. We have no use for such weakness." Scarlet pulled out a Pokeball and summoned a gigantic ape of a Pokemon. It resembled Electabuzz, a Pokemon native to his region of Kanto, but this monster was far more terrifying. "Destroy him."
20,000 volts of electricity coursed through his body. Rick was fried instantly, his body falling to the ground. With a whistle, the Hunter grunt stepped forward. "Now that our guest has been dealt with, milady, there is something that I think you'll be interested in."
"What is it?" Scarlet asked.
"You know that shooting star we've been tracking? Its finally landed." The grunt said. "The best part? It had a passenger."
Muerto, the town where dead Pokemon not only come to rest, but also to celebrate their life. Usually the town was stuck in a seemingly unending festival, but tonight the town and all of its inhabitants were focused on only one thing: a shooting star that seemed to soar across the entire region. It was only as the meteor reached their humble town that, at long last, it came to a loud and frightening stop. The shooting star had landed on route 03, right outside their small town.
It was the gym leader, Pentagon, who was tasked with investigating the crash site. As the most powerful Pokemon trainer in the town, it was the gym leader who was tasked with investigating any incidents relate to the lovable (but often dangerous) creatures. If the meteor landed on Route 03, there was no telling what harm could come to the local wildlife, particularly the plethora of ghost Pokemon who called Muertes home.

Pentagon
“The first shooting star in years, and it lands near our happy little town.” Pentagon whispered as he walked out onto Route 3. The streets were lit only by the flames of lanterns hovering overhead. “I’m not sure if that makes us lucky or cursed Gengar.”
The Gengar walking by Pentagon’s side continued to smirk. Whether they would find something good or bad at the crash site made no difference to him: he just loved the chaos. Most people would be intimidated to walk down Route 3 so late at night, but Pentagon preferred to walk around when it was dark out. It was only at this point in time that beings who preferred to remain hidden finally made their presence felt.
The meteor was easy to fine. Still warm from its descent, the meteor glowed red, standing out even in the middle of the dense forest. Pentagon was able to find it after only a short walk away from Route 3. Thankfully, no Pokemon appeared to be hurt. It was almost as though wild Pokemon had a sixth sense: whenever danger approached, they always found a way to steer clear. Pentagon wished that he had that kind of luxury.
“Keep your wits about you Gengar. I don’t like this one bit.” Pentagon whispered. The meteor was in the center of a clearing in the center of the forest. It was still glowing red and the air felt warmer on their approach. As Pentagon and Gengar rounded the corner, the gym leader was shocked to see a bright yellow body lying on the ground next to the meteor. Before Pentagon could step closer, Gengar held out his stubbly arms, signaling him to hold back.
“It’s not a person…” Pentagon whispered. “It must be a Pokemon. Did it come from the meteor? I didn’t know that Pokemon could come from outer space.” Gengar continued to block Pentagon’s path.
“C’mon Gengar, we gotta help him. He could be seriously-” The yellow Pokemon stood up. It’s body was like nothing Pentagon had ever seen before. It was tall and thin with a humanoid head and hands. However, it’s legs were like those of an insect, and it’s head had no mouth. Pentagon immediately reached for his Pokedex, but upon scanning the creature it found no results.
“Greetings friend. My name is Pentagon, and this is my companion Gengar.” Pentagon held up his arms to show that they were empty. “We come in peace. I know you’re frightened right now, but we should get you to the Pokemon center-”
Before Pentagon could react, the yellow Pokemon dashed forward at frightening speeds, it’s arms extend extended outward to strike Pentagon. The gym leader recognized the move immediately: pursuit. Gengar immediately stepped in the creature’s path, throwing a ball of dark energy right into his chest. The Pokemon from space reeled back, wincing in pain. That move was very effective. Since Gengar was a ghost, did that make this a psychic type?
“Gengar, hypnosis!” Pentagon yelled. Gengar began to cast his spell, the yellow Pokemon’s body began to contort. It’s arms shot out like tentacles, wrapping themselves around Gengar. The ghost Pokemon screamed in pain. Pentagon tried to pry him free, but he was too weak to stop the alien. Slowly, the alien Pokemon’s skin began to expand until it covered Gengar, turning him the same shade of yellow as his skin.
“Gengar, are you alright?” It’s task complete, the yellow Pokemon allowed Gengar to be free. However, something was right. Now, the Gengar was as yellow as the alien standing before them, and it had turned to Pentagon with the same sinister grin he usually reserved for his gym’s challengers.

----------
To the south of the Eclipsio region was a little town called New Dawn.

Sign-up Sheet
