I want to run some one-shots when there can be some folks. These are all non-D&D/Pathfinder systems and so may require a bit of a learning curve and stepping outside of your comfort zone to play. These one-shots will last no more than 3 sessions at most (and hitting that will be difficult).
The Games:
Infinity the Game RPG
Possible Plot: Black Ops Team
"Take on the persona of unique character classes, like the gun mage who combines powerful magic with a deadly acumen for firearms or the steamjack-commanding warcaster. Travel through a fantastic world that takes classic fantasy concepts and gives them a new twist with a high-octane rush of steam power and industrial engineering."
So let me know what you think!
The Games:
Infinity the Game RPG
Possible Plot: Black Ops Team
Based in the Infinity the Game world by Corvus Belli, Infinity is a sci-fi world. The RPG has you roll d20s to score multiple successes to achieve your goals. To quote this site:
"Humanity has reached the stars. Massive, internationally-owned trade ships use wormholes to jump from one star system to the next, in a network of looping routes known as Circulars. Circulars are administered by an intergovernmental organization called O-12, an offshoot of the United Nations that has been vested with greater autonomy and capacity to enforce its decisions than its predecessor ever had. A single Artificial Intelligence, named ALEPH, is allowed to exist with the purpose of aiding O-12 maintain the fragile balance of power. The old nations slowly agglomerated into a few great federated blocs and claimed as their own those star systems that could sustain human life. These new superpowers, although mightier than the old ones ever were, are still motivated by the same compulsions that have always driven human history: living space, resources, power. Coexistence is hard when everyone is competing for the same things. Friction is constant and confrontations—open or covert, high or low-intensity, brief or prolonged—are commonplace. These are not dull times to be a soldier."
Witcher Pen & Paper
Possible Plot: Life Sucks to Not be Human. And for them too.
Set in the grim world of the Witcher, this d6 system follows a lot of the core parts of the Cyberpunk games to create a dynamic game where the combat is intense and dangerous and the players will need to rely on teamwork and wit to survive the war embroiled North. Per the game's site:
"In the midst of the 3rd Nilfgaardian War Geralt of Rivia, the White Wolf, scours the Continent for traces of his lost love! But this is not the only tale. A million other stories play out across the vast continent and you are right in the middle of one of them!
The Witcher Pen & Paper RPG allows you to tell your own story in the world of The Witcher! Adventure across the Continent, interacting with living legends and influencing the politics of the land! Fight in the brutal and horrific Third Nilfgaardian War. Or play out your own adventure as you avoid death and dismemberment!"
Savage Worlds
Possible Plot: Not Sure
Many of you know this great system for setting any world. If chosen it will be a bit more time/work for me to choose what setting (a second vote) and get the game rolling.
Pendragon
Possible Plot: Honor
Watery tarts distributing swords, duels of honor of ladies with large tracts of land, and trying to avoid dabbling in dark arts while smooching your fellow knight's wife, Pendragon is where you play as Arthurian knights and theirlineage as you seek to become the Most Honorable of Houses.
"As players you take on the role of knights following the chivalric code. It introduced traits and passions that reward players acting as virtuous knights as they compete for glory. Known for its innovative game design, King Arthur Pendragon integrates seasonal adventures where players are able to experience running not only a knight, but later, their children in long epic campaigns.:
Lord of the Rings: The One Ring
Possible Plot: Adventurers
It is has been a mere five years since the death of Smaug the Terrible. The north is recovering as evil stirs in the dark places in the world. Journey on a quest in a game focused on story-telling to tell the tale of your folk in this world.
"
Smaug has been defeated, the Battle of Five Armies has been won, and Bilbo has returned to the Shire. But much danger still remains, and from the Orc-holds of the mountains to the dark and corrupt depths of Mirkwood a darkness waits, recovering its strength, laying its plans, and slowly extending its shadow…
"
Warmachine: Iron Kingdoms
Possible Plot: Political Intrigue/Adventure
Streampunk warmachines with magic. Iron Kingdoms lets you dive into the Warmachine world and battle insane monsters. You get to make really unique characters and dive into the realm of the Iron Kingdoms."Humanity has reached the stars.
